Flat Plans

Flat plans for my magazine. Front cover ideas.

1.) In this flat plan I have made the image the centre of the front cover. From the existing magazines that I have researched, the image/photo takes over the whole page. It is the main focus and people would rather see more images than writing because if there was too much font it would put them off and make them bored.

2.) In this flat plan for the front cover. I have rearranged the traditional style of a typical music magazine. From my research not many magazines have the image in the corner. It would still be large and the main focus but it wouldn't be centered and more focus would be drawn to the text too.

3.) In this flat plan of the front cover, I have moved the position of the masthead and rotated it. Instead of it heading the page, it is lined along the side of the page. It makes it more unique and draws the audiences attention across rather than down.

1.) This is the flat plan for the contents page. I designed this layout to make it different from other origional layouts of music magazine's contents pages. I wouldnt use this design for my final piece, because it could look too cluttered and busy, when the pieces are added to it.

2.) This is another design for the contents page. It is a recognisable layout that some music magazines use for their contents page. It is clear and different and would be interesting to look at, without having to read too much.

3.) This is a design for the contents page. It is a simple design and is sometimes used because the audience would understand it and it functions as a contents page well. The added images at the bottom stop the page from looking boring and plain. The text in the centre would be large and there would be a lot of white space, so that the audience would think they aren't reading that much.

1.) This is a design for the DPS in the magazine. This design has a larger photo to text ratio. This would be the layout I would use for the magazine because it appeals to the audience that I am targetting. This layout is more interesting and fun because of the seperation of text and images on both sides of the pages.

2.) This is another design for the DPS. This design contains more text than the other two designs, I wouldn't use it for the type of magazine that I am making (pop). This type of design would suit a blues or classical music magazine.

3.) This is a design for the DPS. It has more image than text and because of this layout it would suit the type of music magazine that I am doing. Most pop magazines dont have much text in them because their typical target audience are not the sort of people that like to read a lot.

  1. Good work. You have given options and been influenced by your research and talked us through the thought process.
You could produce electronic plans for the DPS, that might be good.
You could also tell us which designs you have chosen as your final plans.
